Godo está perdiendo las esperanzas de que el bonsái de pino que José le regaló en diciembre sobreviva. Todas sus ramitas se han secado y algunas se han caÃdo. Los poquitos brotes verdes que tenÃa ya se están secando también. ¿Tienes alguna idea de cómo rescatarlo?

Godo’s hopes have vanished about that bonsai Jose gave him last December. All its little branches are falling down; even its tiny green sprouts are getting brown. Have you any idea to help him to recover it?

Alas, the one time I was given a bonsai tree I tried and tried and still I killed it. So I am not one to give out advice. :-) I love your work!!

That’s so sad, Willie, and it sounds worst when u say that u killed ur bonsai. I’m a killer too :’(
I loved ur illo, too… I bet everyone on IF have experienced the same situation u’ve illustrated ;)

Very cool style – Godo’s Bonsai is majestic even in defeat! The only Bonsai I ever had was a casualty too – I think I over-pruned.

Me pasó como a Willie. Yo también tuve un bonsai y se me terminó muriendo. :_(
Probé de todo: lo puse al sol, después a la sombra; lo regué mucho, poquito, nada. Hasta seguà los sabios consejos de mi madre, fanática de las plantas (si vieran el balcón que tiene en su casa), y le hablé. SÃ, sÃ. le decÃa cosas como “ánimo, no te me vengas abajo” o “buen dÃa, ¿cómo amaneciste hoy?”.
Pero no hubo caso. En cuestión de meses, el bonsai no sólo nunca me contestó sino que además se vino a pique y pereció.
¿Tal vez deberÃa haber aprendido a hablarle en japonés? No lo sé. Igual, por las dudas, ése es mi consejo: que aprendas algunas palabras en el idioma nipón y lo intentes.
Como sea, Pati, ojalá vos sà puedas salvar a tu bonsai. :SSS

@ Valgalart: it seems like everyone of us that has had a bonsai is now frustrated about its death, Val… so sad :( at least, we are not alone :’)

@ Spectatrice: siiiiii, si yo también lo regué de más, poquito, lo puse a la sombra y al Sol, le hablé y lo pochongueaba como tú… ¡naaaaada! qué triste verlo en el patio de mi casa, entre las plantas requete-verdes y frondosas de mi mamá, todo sequito, triste y de paso, calvito.
Hoy vino un jardinero a cortar unas plantas y dijo que se trata de un pinito canadiense que es de clima frÃo. Error fatal, pues Maracaibo es llamada -y no en broma- “la ciudad del Sol amada”. Creo que ya no hay nada más que hacer :’(

Si no tuviese una nevera también tipo bonsái (por aquello del tamañito), de seguro intentarÃa que el pinito se sintiera como en casa, mis queridas Spectatrice y Cecilia :(
De todas maneras, ya intentaré hacerle un espacio, porque no creo que llegue con los retoñitos que le quedan al rico balcón de Ceci a entenderse con su compatriota :(

Very fun piece! He looks perplexed and I can relate since I don’t have a green thumb myself. I really wonder if there is anyone out there who can actually keep these little plants thriving.

Bonsai likes to live outdoors, they don’t do well in the dry, hot climate of a living room. Tell him to put it outside somwhere, and play Mozart ;-) Lovely illustration.
