EN~ I just can’t believe that he’s started pulling himself up with the crib bars.

ES ~ Me cuesta creer que ya ha comenzado a levantarse apoyándose en los barrotes de su cuna.

EN ~ Autumn is here, so nights come earlier. Sam’s bedroom was almost completely dark when I decided to grab my pencils. Although I could barely see him and the paper, I like the way it came out.

ES ~ El otoño llegó y con él comenzó a anochecer más temprano. El cuarto de Sam estaba en penumbra cuando decidí buscar mis lápices. Aunque casi no podía verlo a él ni al papel, me gustó el resultado.

EN ~ Neither I know when the inspiration can come and get me, nor I know if my model will allow me to finish what he made me do.

ES ~ Ni sé cuándo la inspiración puede aparecer y atraparme, ni sé si mi modelo me dejará terminar lo que empecé por su causa.

EN ~ I wish I could show you how beautiful he looks while breastfeeding. It’s such a tender moment, specially when he is ready for sleeping time. I definitely need to improve the way to express what I feel.

ES ~ Me gustaría poder mostrarte lo lindo que luce mientras lo amamanto. Es un momento tan tierno, especialmente cuando está preparándose para dormir. Definitivamente tengo que mejorar la manera de expresar lo que siento.

EN ~ Good thing I started this with time enough to have some days off! I haven’t grabbed a pencil in almost a week now. It was for a good cause, though; I’ve been taking lots of pictures for l’Atelier and finally, I got not only one but three photos in Explore!

This is my little boy having a warm bath. He loves that, playing with water and his little duck. Life couldn’t be better.

ES ~ Menos mal que comencé este reto con tiempo suficiente para tomarme unos días libres… No había mirado los lápices por casi una semana. Sin embargo, la causa lo vale: he estado tomando fotos como loca para l’Atelier y finalmente me incluyeron no una, sino ¡tres fotos en Explore!

Este es mi muchachito tomando un baño tibio. Le encanta jugar con el agua y su patito. ¡La vida no podría ser mejor!

EN ~ He’s ridiculously flexible and now that he’s getting stronger he’s even chasing toys like a pro!

ES ~ No deja de asombrarme lo flexible que es y ahora que tiene más control sobre su cuerpo es capaz de perseguir juguetes como todo un profesional ;)

EN ~ I took a couple of days off so I could do other things I love. One of them was writing this post and the other one is participating in l’Atelier — such a terrific photography workshop online!

Meanwhile, Samuel’s been my model and my favorite toy, as usual. I’m so proud he can sit without help now. I’m also celebrating this is my fourth sketch for this challenge, I can’t wait to see the whole group together.

ES ~ Me tomé un par de días fuera del reto para dedicarme a otras cosas que me gusta hacer. Una de ellas fue escribir esta entrada, la otra, participar en l’Atelier — ¡un increíble taller de fotografía en línea!

Mientras, Samuel ha sido mi modelo y mi juguete favorito, como de costumbre. Me siento muy orgullosa de que ya sea capaz de sentarse sin ayuda. También estoy celebrando mi cuarto boceto, no puedo esperar a verlos todos completos.

EN ~ Ok. It doesn’t look like him. His face is too long and that makes him look older. I struggled hardly trying to do this sketch work, though. I didn’t know how much I needed something like this. My pencils too are out of shape!

p.s. Funny thing is that he likes carrots, but I’m not allowed to mix them with potatoes (which he hates).

ES ~ Nop. No se parece a él. Su rostro está demasiado largo y eso lo hace lucir mayor. Y eso que trabajé duro tratando de lograr el parecido. No sabía cuánta falta me hacía embarcarme en un proyecto de este tipo. ¡Hasta mis lápices están oxidados!

p.d. Por raro que parezca, le encantan las zanahorias… pero tengo prohibido mezclarlas con papas, las odia.

EN ~ When I was a teenager I used to babysit my nieces and nephews. Back then, I loved drawing them in their napping time, because it was the only moment they were quiet enough for me to try. I recalled those moments today when I sat near to Sam’s crib while he was sleeping… until a stertorous alarm woke him up!

My hand is so heavy now that it is easy to imagine from my sketches how long I haven’t draw a single line (a lot!). I hope this exercise helps me to improve that, as well as capturing a few nice memories of my little boy.

ES ~ Cuando era una adolescente, solía cuidar de mis sobrinos. Entonces me encantaba dibujarlos mientras tomaban su siesta porque era el único momento en el que estaban quietos. Recordé esos momentos hoy cuando me senté frente a la cuna de Sam mientras dormía… ¡hasta que una alarma estrepitosa lo despertó!

Mi mano está tan pesada por la falta de práctica que es fácil imaginar a partir de mis bocetos cuánto tiempo ha pasado sin que haya trazado una linea (¡mucho!). Espero que este ejercicio me ayude a mejorar esto y a recoger algunos lindos recuerdos de mi muchachito.

EN ~ Last night I realized that I have about 100 days left of my maternity leave. 100 days or so, all these sublime mornings taking long naps and these gorgeous afternoons walking around with Samuel will be over. That and the fact that I haven’t portrayed my baby boy
—until now— made me start an almost ambitious project for a new mom, like me.

So, I decided to draw 100 simple portraits of my son. This is the first one.

ES ~ Anoche me percaté de que me quedan unos cien días de mi permiso de maternidad. 100 días más o menos, estas mañanas sublimes durmiendo largas siestas y estas hermosas tardes caminando por ahí con Samuel se habrán terminado. Eso, y el que no haya hecho un sólo retrato de mi cachorrito —hasta ahora— me hicieron comenzar un proyecto casi ambicioso para una mamá recién estrenada, como yo.

Así que decidí dibujar 100 retratos sencillos de mi bebé. Este es el primero.
