EN ~ He’s ridiculously flexible and now that he’s getting stronger he’s even chasing toys like a pro!

ES ~ No deja de asombrarme lo flexible que es y ahora que tiene más control sobre su cuerpo es capaz de perseguir juguetes como todo un profesional ;)
EN ~ I took a couple of days off so I could do other things I love. One of them was writing this post and the other one is participating in l’Atelier — such a terrific photography workshop online!
Meanwhile, Samuel’s been my model and my favorite toy, as usual. I’m so proud he can sit without help now. I’m also celebrating this is my fourth sketch for this challenge, I can’t wait to see the whole group together.
ES ~ Me tomé un par de dÃas fuera del reto para dedicarme a otras cosas que me gusta hacer. Una de ellas fue escribir esta entrada, la otra, participar en l’Atelier — ¡un increÃble taller de fotografÃa en lÃnea!
Mientras, Samuel ha sido mi modelo y mi juguete favorito, como de costumbre. Me siento muy orgullosa de que ya sea capaz de sentarse sin ayuda. También estoy celebrando mi cuarto boceto, no puedo esperar a verlos todos completos.
De vez en cuando recibo algún mensaje solicitando información acerca de cómo es el mercado de trabajo en Montreal. Siempre respondo con entusiasmo porque lo disfruto y porque me habrÃa encantado que alguien hiciera lo mismo por mà cuando recién llegué, maleta en mano, llena de ilusiones y preguntas.
Esta es la conversación que me habrÃa gustado tener a mano esos primeros dÃas como inmigrante.
EN ~ Ok. It doesn’t look like him. His face is too long and that makes him look older. I struggled hardly trying to do this sketch work, though. I didn’t know how much I needed something like this. My pencils too are out of shape!
p.s. Funny thing is that he likes carrots, but I’m not allowed to mix them with potatoes (which he hates).

ES ~ Nop. No se parece a él. Su rostro está demasiado largo y eso lo hace lucir mayor. Y eso que trabajé duro tratando de lograr el parecido. No sabÃa cuánta falta me hacÃa embarcarme en un proyecto de este tipo. ¡Hasta mis lápices están oxidados!
p.d. Por raro que parezca, le encantan las zanahorias… pero tengo prohibido mezclarlas con papas, las odia.
EN ~ Godo loves baking. Specially when he bakes dessert. He hearts having a hot guayoyo* with a lukewarm chocolate cake after lunch. Who wouldn’t like that, anyway?

ES ~ A Godo le encanta hornear. Especialmente si se trata de postres. Le fascina acompañar una torta de chocolate tibia con un guayoyo* bien caliente. ¿Y a quién no le gustarÃa?

EN ~ When I was a teenager I used to babysit my nieces and nephews. Back then, I loved drawing them in their napping time, because it was the only moment they were quiet enough for me to try. I recalled those moments today when I sat near to Sam’s crib while he was sleeping… until a stertorous alarm woke him up!
My hand is so heavy now that it is easy to imagine from my sketches how long I haven’t draw a single line (a lot!). I hope this exercise helps me to improve that, as well as capturing a few nice memories of my little boy.

ES ~ Cuando era una adolescente, solÃa cuidar de mis sobrinos. Entonces me encantaba dibujarlos mientras tomaban su siesta porque era el único momento en el que estaban quietos. Recordé esos momentos hoy cuando me senté frente a la cuna de Sam mientras dormÃa… ¡hasta que una alarma estrepitosa lo despertó!
Mi mano está tan pesada por la falta de práctica que es fácil imaginar a partir de mis bocetos cuánto tiempo ha pasado sin que haya trazado una linea (¡mucho!). Espero que este ejercicio me ayude a mejorar esto y a recoger algunos lindos recuerdos de mi muchachito.
EN ~ Last night I realized that I have about 100 days left of my maternity leave. 100 days or so, all these sublime mornings taking long naps and these gorgeous afternoons walking around with Samuel will be over. That and the fact that I haven’t portrayed my baby boy
—until now— made me start an almost ambitious project for a new mom, like me.
So, I decided to draw 100 simple portraits of my son. This is the first one.

ES ~ Anoche me percaté de que me quedan unos cien dÃas de mi permiso de maternidad. 100 dÃas más o menos, estas mañanas sublimes durmiendo largas siestas y estas hermosas tardes caminando por ahà con Samuel se habrán terminado. Eso, y el que no haya hecho un sólo retrato de mi cachorrito —hasta ahora— me hicieron comenzar un proyecto casi ambicioso para una mamá recién estrenada, como yo.
Asà que decidà dibujar 100 retratos sencillos de mi bebé. Este es el primero.

ES ~ Godo quisiera ser tan inconmovible como su hermano.
EN ~ Yay! I finally got the Golf Canada Magazine issue I was waiting for! Check on pages 60-61 my latest illustration for the French edition.
I found this story very funny. It’s about Jacques Beauchamp, the guy who during the 60s & 70s directed the sport section in Montreal’s magazines. Let’s just say three things: coarse language in Quebec is mainly filled by church’s words, Beauchamp’s mouth wasn’t the finest and he didn’t know he was playing golf with a priest.

ES ~ ¡SÃ! Finalmente recibà la copia de la revista Golf Canada que estaba esperando. Está en las páginas 60-61 de la edición francesa.
La historia me pareció bien graciosa. Tiene que ver con Jacques Beauchamp, editor de la sección deportiva de las revistas montrealenses de los 60s y 70s. Digamos simplemente tres cosas al respecto: las palabras soeces en Quebec suelen ser términos eclesiásticos, la boca de Beauchamp no era la más delicada y de paso, no sabÃa que estaba jugando con un sacerdote.
EN ~ For us to survive, our planet’s atmosphere needs lots of TLC.
Luckily, the Earth is strong enough to go way further than us.

ES ~ Para nuestra supervivencia, la atmósfera de nuestro planeta necesita mucho cariño. Felizmente, la Tierra es lo suficientemente fuerte como para ir mucho más lejos que la raza humana.
